Shelby arrived recently in Lincoln, NE along with her siblings—these beautiful pups were dumped in the middle of nowhere, left to fend for themselves. These young pups were discovered malnourished, dehydrated and in need of immediate care. Through networking, they made their way into Dolly’s Legacy where they received care in Oklahoma until they were healthy and ready to move on to foster homes in Nebraska. Shelby is a lovable, funny, confident, and curious gal! She loves to be around people and is quick to follow—in fact, we are fairly certain that she has never met a stranger. She enjoys the company of other dogs—whether it’s hanging out on the couch or deck with them or trotting around the back yard to see what is going on. She’s good at taking cues from her foster fur siblings, so while she is a pup and can be in their business, she corrects well when they let her know to give them some space. Shelby is learning to sit, working on potty training, and working on leash skills—being on a leash is new for her so we are being patient and teaming her up with her foster siblings. This girl wants to please so basic training for this young gal would be great! At five months, she’s a perfect age. Shelby enjoys a good bone or chew toy while chilling on the deck or the plush rug inside. Shelby has not been around cats, but we would expect she would be just fine, perhaps a little curious. Shelby will make a great pet for just about anyone—she would likely love a family, but be perfectly fine being an individual’s sidekick. Shelby behaves like a typical puppy, but with “jumping” to greet and her tugging on your clothes along with her tall stature and big paws, she could be a little much for little kiddos so just something to consider if you have small children. While a fenced yard is not required, Shelby does love sniffing and running around the yard, enjoying outdoor play time, playing fetch and chasing/being chased by her foster siblings so a fenced yard will make all those things secure and enjoyable. Shelby is such a beauty and has a fun, yet laid back personality, she’s going to be a great one to watch grow! Shelby is a Hound/Lab mix, weighs 20 lbs (but growing!) and was born approximately 3/15/2020. She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, given flea/tick preventive, dewormed & started on heartworm preventive. Adoption fee is $575 to help offset the many expenses we have for vetting costs. We rely strictly on adoption fees and donations to continue to save the lives of orphaned & abandoned pets; 100% goes towards their care.
