IZZY

Izzy is a beautiful girl with a big heart and big personality. She gets compliments on her looks everywhere she goes. Izzy loves being outside, taking lots of walks, and going for car rides around town. She loves being with her people and sitting with them on the floor or at their feet—and is not afraid to let you know when she wants more attention and scritches—but enjoys her quiet alone time as well.

Izzy is fully house trained and knows a host of tricks and basic commands, from sit, stay, and come to roll over, circle, and “donut”--and she is highly treat-motivated and ready to learn more. Outside the home, she does well with other dogs and people, although some individuals and squirrels can get her a little excited and anxious.

Izzy does have some resource guarding issues, and as she has started to reach maturity in recent months, she has become reactive towards strangers and visitors to the home, as well as to young children in the home. Because of this, Izzy needs a calm home with no small children and owners who are willing to work with her on positive reinforcement training.

 

Izzy is currently in a single-dog household. She has stayed in homes with other cats and dogs in the past, but hasn’t been tested in this regard for quite some time. 

Requirements to adopt Izzy:

*Fenced yard: She loves being outside so we are requiring a fence or acreage, no apartment
*Calm, adult-only home; Izzy seems to feel stress with the unpredictable movements and crying of small children
*Experienced owner: Izzy needs someone who is willing and able to continue to work with her on training to address her fear reaction toward unfamiliar visitors. She is a BIG girl at 100 lbs so she needs a physically fit, strong owner able to walk and get her the exercise she needs.

 

Izzy is a female Anatolian Shepherd/Black Mouth Cur mix (our best guess of breeds) who weighs 102 lbs and was born approximately 1-16-20. She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, tested negative for heartworm disease. Adoption fee is $300 to help offset the many expenses we have for vetting costs. We rely strictly on adoption fees and donations to continue to save the lives of orphaned & abandoned pets; 100% goes towards their care.
