MOE

Hi! My Name Is MOE

We're happy to tell you that MOE has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.
Moe is the most joyous dog you will ever meet. He was surrendered to our rescue, just recently turned a year old on Valentine's Day. He was said to be a Labradoodle but he much more resembles an Irish Wolfhound-Lab. He had been taken in for neuter surgery but it was discovered he has a severe heart murmur. Imagine that, born on Valentine's Day but he has a broken heart!
Within a couple days of arriving to Dolly's Legacy, we took him to see a veterinary cardiologist who did a cardiac ultrasound to see what the culprit was. He was diagnosed Moe with a PDA (patent ductus arteriosus), a birth defect in his heart, and the good news is that it was fixable! Soon after, Moe was admitted to the Cardiology Team at Iowa State University Veterinary Health Center and underwent surgery to place a device in his heart to close the defect. He sailed through like a champ and is through his recovery phase! Moe will need to remain on a daily cardiac medication and have a follow-up exam with his cardiologist this fall that his adopters will need to be responsible for. All of his records will be included in his adoption packet.

A note from Moe:
"Now that my heart is healed, I'm looking for a wonderful family to celebrate my healthy heart for many years to come. I'm playful and am an excellent retriever! I love playing catch! I'm house trained, kennel trained and pretty trustworthy in the house. Occasionally, I find something fun in the house to put in my mouth so I can be chased. But all in fun! I am well mannered, good with other dogs and just want to be loved and played with! While I'm tall, I only weigh 65 lbs. I would be best with older (9+yo) or no children as I don't want to be confused as a ride on toy. If you are looking for a sweet, cuddly. big guy in your family, I may be the one for you!"
