Established as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in North Palm Springs. The animal sanctuary was also known as the Orphan Pet Oasis. It began with 16 Kennels on 2 acres and housed 20 dogs
Compassionate donors added a small trailer to begin rescuing cats.
An additional 6 acres was generously donated
Malinda Bustos was elected President of the Board of Directors in 2004. While Bustos continued the rescue mission, she saw the importance of quality of life for each animal and the need for facility modernization. Strong winds and high temperatures had taken its toll. Renovations began in Fall 2004.
Mrs. Anne Barry donated the Barry Cat Rescue Center. This 1,400 square foot building offers accommodations to more than 50 cats
The Board of Directors contracts with Valerie Masi at Best Paw Forward as Director of Animal Services. Staying true to the mission of making the animals' welfare a priority, the Humane Society is relaunching to maximize it's potential in serving the needs of orphaned and abandoned pets in the Coachella Valley.
