At a young age—when she should have been playing fetch, getting spoiled, and living care-free—Shadow was caring for a litter of puppies. To make matters worse, her family surrendered Shadow and her entire litter to a crowded Kansas shelter. One by one, every single one of her puppies was adopted. One by one, she watched them walk out the door to their new lives, leaving Shadow behind to mourn not only the loss of her home, but the loss of her babies.
Now, Shadow is waiting for a family to choose her.

The Ultimate Couch Potato: After everything she's been through, her absolute favorite pastime is curling up on the couch for a cozy nap next to her favorite human.

Playful & Active: While she loves her naps, she also has a playful side! Shadow would thrive in a home with a fenced yard where she can zoom, frolic, and stretch her legs.
Breed Mix: Shadow appears to be a unique mix of Blue Lacy (the state dog of Texas!), potentially blended with Retriever and Cattle Dog.
Shadow has spent her whole short life taking care of others or being overlooked. Because of this, she would absolutely delight in being an only dog—she wants to soak up 100% of your love and attention, making up for all the lost time!
Dog Sociality: She can be selective with canine companions. While she generally prefers male dogs over female dogs, a dog-free home where she can be the undisputed queen of the castle is her absolute dream.

Shadow gave everything she had to her babies. Now that they are safe and loved, it is her turn to be cherished, pampered, and reminded of what it feels like to just be a dog.
Shadow is a female Blue Lacy/Retriever/Cattle Dog/All-American Rescue mix. She was was born approximately 1-26-25 and weighs 40 lbs. She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, tested negative for heartworm, and given flea/tick/heatworm preventative. Adoption fee is $350 to help offset the many expenses we have for vetting costs. We rely strictly on adoption fees and donations to continue to save the lives of orphaned & abandoned pets; 100% goes towards their care.
