JD

Hi! My Name Is JD

We're happy to tell you that JD has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.
JD is one perfect gentleman.  He found himself in the need of a new home when his owner had to move to an Alzheimer’s facility—thank goodness he found that temporary home with a group in southeast Missouri that networked to find a rescue that would be willing to give JD a chance at his next chapter knowing he was heartworm positive and the expenses that go along with heartworm treatment.  JD has completed his heartworm treatment and will be due for a recheck in August.   There is no doubt that JD has lived a life full of love—he adores attention and being told how handsome he is.  He gives that love right back with his adorable looks and friendly demeanor.  He is potty trained and does well on a leash and on his walks.  The one thing that will get him riled up on a walk is a rabbit—so be prepared for any hopping around as that will trigger JD to pull on his leash.   JD has not been around cats in his current foster home so if you do have a cat, we would definitely want an opportunity to get him introduced to one.  JD is a perfect guest with the three resident dogs in his foster home—he hangs out with them, is respectful of them, and just fits in beautifully.  While JD does not partake in the howling that goes along with sirens that go through his neighborhood, he does sometimes partake in barking at passersby if one particular resident dog gets him going.   JD will make a great pet for just about anyone—he would likely love a family (to get all the attention he deserves) and be perfectly fine being an individual’s sidekick (and would be an awesome one at that)—he’s got the following down pat: watching TV, helping prepare his dinner, and laying at his human’s feet while she eats quickly at the kitchen counter.  If you’re looking for a chill friend that will welcome time and interaction with you—JD is your man.   JD does love sniffing, basking in the sun, and roaming around the yard, so a fenced yard where he can do that freely is a must for him.  JD listens pretty well, but on opportunities to run in larger sections of land, his nose gets him going and he doesn’t always listen so well during those times.  JD enjoys a good bone while chilling on the plush rug inside and hanging on the couch with his foster mom.  JD is truly just content to be with you and while we’re not 100% convinced that he needs to be with another dog, he certainly finds solace in the companionship of another chill dog. JD is an English Pointer/mix, weighs 74  lbs and was born approximately 11-20-15. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, given flea/tick preventative, dewormed. JD had life-saving treatment for heartworm disease. He will need to remain on heartworm preventative for life, as is recommended for ALL dogs, and retested in 6 months to ensure he is heartworm free. Adoption fee is $350 to help offset the many expenses we have for vetting costs. We rely strictly on adoption fees and donations to continue to save the lives of orphaned & abandoned pets; 100% goes towards their care.
