Hi my name is Banjo! When you think about banjo playing music it's fast, happy, and full of life. That's the same with me, so my name is perfect! As you can see from my pictures I am very photogenic and have been working on my modeling skills (sit and stay). I also have some superpowers! I sing with a howl, I have at least a 36" vertical leap (I could be on the track and field team) and my foster parents think I could do agility with the right training. I walk on leash like a champ, and I am kennel and potty trained. I sleep in my kennel all night like a good boy. I'm super wiggly, love good all-over body rubs, and am just the sweetest boy. My foster moms say I'm affectionate and very loving. I get along with other dogs but have not been tested with cats or kids yet. Oh and deer scare me and I bark at them so if you have deer at your house WATCH OUT! Australian Shepherds are, in general, high-energy dogs with a strong work ethic. Incredibly smart and work-oriented, this is a breed who is happiest in active homes with experienced dog owners who are prepared for the wit and ambition of this exuberant breed. Australian Shepherds need plenty of exercise every day and will not be happy sitting idly by waiting for things to do. This breed will need consistent training from a patient and motivated owner. Due to his natural herding instincts, a home without small children is best as he would consider them part of his flock. Banjo came from rural southern Oklahoma where he was found as a stray and never reclaimed. The only way he would make it out of the shelter alive was to be rescued as they do not have any volunteer or adoption programs in their rural animal control facility. Dolly's Legacy came to his rescue and saved his life. Now he's ready for a new chapter with a forever home. Banjo is a male Australian Shepherd, weighs 28lbs and was born approximately 11-01-2018. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, given flea/tick preventative, dewormed, tested negative for heartworm disease & given a Proheart injection for 6 months of heartworm preventative. Adoption fee is $450 to help offset the many expenses we have for vetting costs. We rely strictly on adoption fees and donations to continue to save the lives of orphaned & abandoned pets; 100% goes towards their care. If interested in adopting one of our available dogs or puppies, please complete an online adoption application at https://dollyslegacyanimalrescue.org/adopt/ You will be contacted by our adoption coordinator via email after your application has been reviewed & approved to schedule an appointment.
