**AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION approximately 3-1-21 following heartworm treatment** Big Bertha's story is one of deep sadness, you can see right into her broken soul through her eyes. Bertha had spent her whole life as a beloved pet, but her owner developed dementia and no longer recognized her own dog. She continued to call animal control to come pick up this stray dog, not realizing this was her precious companion. It became clear that Bertha was losing the home & master she so dearly loved, and was taken away to the rural pound where she slept on a cold concrete floor. Her heart & world shattered. She so longed to go home, but it was not meant to be. We aren't even sure what her name is. We can only work to restore the light in her eyes and the broken spirit behind them. We are committed to giving her everything she needs body & spirit. Will you please help Big Bertha in her journey to finding the happiness she once had by giving her a patient love & committed forever home? Big Bertha is a female Hound/Terrier/mixed breed, weighs 65 lbs and was born approximately 12-25-15. She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, given flea/tick preventative, dewormed. Bertha is undergoing life-saving treatment for heartworm disease. She will need to remain on heartworm preventative for life, as is recommended for ALL dogs, and retested in 6 months to ensure she is heartworm free. Adoption fee is $400 to help offset the many expenses we have for vetting costs. We rely strictly on adoption fees and donations to continue to save the lives of orphaned & abandoned pets; 100% goes towards their care. If interested in adopting one of our available dogs or puppies, please complete an online adoption application at https://dollyslegacyanimalrescue.org/adopt/ You will be contacted by our adoption coordinator via email after your application has been reviewed & approved to schedule an appointment.
