CHAMP

Hi! My Name Is CHAMP

We're happy to tell you that CHAMP has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.
*Not currently taking applications: Champ is currently on hold while he undergoes some additional training to make him a perfect family pet! At just 3-4 weeks old, Champ was attacked by another dog and was found hiding underneath a house with his leg partially torn off. He was hospitalized as an emergency and the wound became infected which required surgery to have the stump cleaned and closed up. Just a couple of weeks later, he came down with parvo and nearly died. Little Champ had to remain hospitalized for another 30 days. Champ was finally able to be transported to Dolly's Legacy in February and he's been with an awesome foster family.Since Champ arrived in Nebraska, he had been trying to use his rear leg, but it was causing him to be off balance. The decision made with our veterinarian to go ahead and do an amputation of his rear leg at the hip joint as the best option for Champ's health & happiness.Champ would do best in a home without children as they frighten him. New people and a lot of coming/going would overwhelm him, so a home without a lot of commotion or visitors would be best for him. He loves his foster humans but can be unsure about new people due to his rough start in life. He would like a dog playmate(s) for companionship.Champ needs an owner who has experience with smart, strong, working dog breeds like German Shepherds or Belgian Malinois. Champ is a miracle survivor and has beaten the odds time and again. We will require the absolute best home for him with a patient & compassionate adopter. Champ is a German Shepherd and was born approximately 12-1-18. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, given flea/tick preventative, dewormed & provided multiple life-saving surgeries and treatments with hospitalization. He is now happy & healthy and ready for new chapter in his life. Adoption fee is $300. We rely strictly on adoption fees and donations to continue to save the lives of orphaned & abandoned pets; 100% goes towards their care.
