Fiona is truly the sweetest dog her family has ever known. They are heartbroken to surrender her but a family member has had increasing health issues related to allergies and their physician is adamant they rehome their sweet Fiona. Dolly's Legacy is helping them find Fiona her new family. She is about half the size of a typical Great Pyrenees (her old vet called her a “Pocket Pyrenees”) and does not have a mean bone in her body. She came to her current family with some separation anxiety due to being left alone for long periods of time by her previous owners. Her family enrolled her in a training program so she could gain some confidence and learn to feel safe in a crate. She is now happy to use a crate for eating and sleeping and when her current family needs to leave the home.
Fiona does have a sensitive stomach, and can be prone to diarrhea, particularly when it comes to sudden changes in her diet. The solution has been to give her a small dose of Tylan with her evening meals. This will likely need to continue for the rest of her life but the powder can be purchased inexpensively from Chewy. She has a prescription through her vet.
Fiona seems to do well with dogs with similar temperaments. She is very gentle and docile and gets overwhelmed in the presence of high-energy dogs. She likes cats but does not understand she cannot chase them. She is great with kids but prefers to watch over them from afar rather than play with them like a golden retriever. She does well with most strangers but is occasionally frightened by men.
We are searching for a family that will love Fiona every bit as much as her current family, who will continue to give her a great life and do right by her for her lifetime.
