FRANKLIN

Hi! My Name Is FRANKLIN

We're happy to tell you that FRANKLIN has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.

Franklin/Frankie is a heartbreaker. Every single human who has met him wants to keep him. He looks and acts like a puppy though he's 10. He lives to sit on your lap and look soulfully into your eyes to the point you'll do anything to make him happy. Then he gives you kisses and you can't believe he's even real. Frankie is perfect. He took to house training in 2 days and hasn't had an accident since. He came from an unlicensed breeder/hoarder situation but you wouldn't know if from the way he loves every single person he meets. His only flaw? He snores. And not like little "OMG HE'S SO CUTE" snores, but like "how are those noises coming from something so wee?" Snores. Frankie likes having kennels and burrows to go into. He has 4 different-sized kennels at his foster mom's house and prefers sleeping in a kennel to sleeping in a bed. Frankie is perfect.

Franklin came into rescue after a criminal investigation led to seizure of nearly 30 dogs and the owner arrested and charged with multiple felony counts of animal neglect & abuse. Frankie was one of the dogs freed from their horror that day. We have included the photo the day he was taken into protective custody by law enforcement. A judge ordered all the dogs be taken from the owner. We are grateful to the tipster and to law enforcement for pursuing this investigation and freeing them from that life.

Requirements to adopt Franklin:

*Exceptional veterinary reference with responsible pet ownership history preferably with small long-haired breeds, as well as verifiable grooming history

*Needs experienced owner who will be committed to keeping him groomed and given daily eye ointment for dry eye

Franklin is the tiniest ShihTzu you ever saw, it's actually surprising that the scale goes all the way up to 8 lbs, he looks smaller. He was born approximately 11-1-12. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, given flea/tick preventive, dewormed, tested negative for heartworm disease & started on preventive. At the time of his neuter, they removed a small nodule deemed a mast cell, although not confirmed with pathology; needs monitored at regular vet exams. Adoption fee is $450 to help offset the many expenses we have for vetting costs. We rely strictly on adoption fees and donations to continue to save the lives of orphaned & abandoned pets; 100% goes towards their care. If interested in adopting one of our available dogs or puppies, please complete an online adoption application at https://dollyslegacyanimalrescue.org/adopt/ You will be contacted by our adoption coordinator via email after your application has been reviewed & approved to schedule an appointment.
