Genius is such a ham! He is easy going and it won't take long to find out you will have a great buddy! He loves to be petted and will roll on his back for belly rubs. Uses the doggy door after one time of showing him. Not a fan of his crate but will go in with a little coaxing, he'd much rather be snuggled up with you. Genius is so well behaved that he doesn’t need to be in the crate, he has shown no destructive behaviors and has great house manners. He really would enjoy having another dog or two his size to play with, so we are asking that he find a home with a dog friend companion. He has lived with dogs of all sizes and gets along beautifully with all. He was very gentle with a 3 year old human as well. He’s just starting to play with toys a little. No fetch yet but we are working on it. All around the best boy!

*Requirement to adopt: Must have a dog companion who will enjoy his company, preferably around his size. If you don't currently have one at home, we encourage you to adopt a buddy along with him from Dolly's Legacy!

Genius is a male Basset Hound mix who was was born approximately 11-14-19 and weighs 60 lbs. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, given flea/tick preventative, dewormed, tested negative for heartworm disease and started on heartworm prevention. Adoption fee is $400 to help offset the many expenses we have for vetting costs. We rely strictly on adoption fees and donations to continue to save the lives of orphaned & abandoned pets; 100% goes towards their care. Dolly's Legacy Animal Rescue's mission is to save orphaned and abandoned pets from overcrowded shelters where they are out of time & out of hope to make it out alive. Far too many pets are facing a cruel death at high-intake, high-kill animal control facilities, some still using a gas chamber as a means of euthanasia. We rescue dogs, puppies, cats & kittens, and place them into loving foster homes while they receive all the vet care needed, including spay/neuter, heartworm testing & treatment, vaccinations, microchipping, treatment for parasites, surgical intervention, and hospitalization.
