HANK

Hi! My Name Is HANK

We're happy to tell you that HANK has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.

This is Hank. We LOVE Hank. He's been with his foster family for two months, and if they didn't already have six dogs, Hank wouldn't be going anywhere. Here is his story... Hank was found as a stray by Dallas Animal Control on October 13th. The Dallas shelter is overrun badly, and dogs typically get five days before they are euthanized. Luckily, a hound volunteer stopped by and met him and made a post on Facebook about him, with a short video. Our hearts melted and we began a journey to save him. Dolly's Legacy agreed to bring him into their care and by October 30th he was in his foster home. To our delight, this boy has superb manners! Hank is very easy to walk on a leash and is housetrained. He prefers his dog bed to being in the human bed, but will sometimes lay on the bed with the other hounds for impromptu slumber parties of sorts. He's not much of a licker, but he will look at you intently with love in his eyes. Hank has a very calm demeanor. He was pretty quiet when he arrived, and now two months later he's just finding his voice. We love his "arroooo!". He is not obnoxiously noisy, just now & again he wants to let everyone know he's there. Hank is fine with all the other dogs (5 redbone coonhounds, a cocker spaniel, and a fostered treeing walker hound). He is not impressed with the two barn kitties, seems nonchalant around them and doesn't pay them any attention.

All in all, we can't say enough good things about Hank. His fosters have had dogs all their life, and they admit this fellow is unique and really special. Someone in Dallas lost a darn good dog. He absolutely deserves someone he can love for the rest of his life, and we are dedicated to making that happen. If you meet him, you will understand.

Requirements to adopt Hank, in addition to the information above:

*Exceptional veterinary reference with responsible pet ownership history

*Fenced yard or acreage: He is a hound, therefore needs space to sniff & search; apartment living is a definite no

Hank is a male Bluetick Coonhound who weighs 59 lbs and was born approximately 11-1-19. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, given flea/tick preventative, dewormed. He was provided life-saving heartworm treatment and will need to remain on monthly heartworm preventative and retested in 6 months to ensure he is heartworm free. Adoption fee is $400 to help offset the many expenses we have for vetting costs. We rely strictly on adoption fees and donations to continue to save the lives of orphaned & abandoned pets; 100% goes towards their care.
