HOOPER

Hi! My Name Is HOOPER

We're happy to tell you that HOOPER has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.

Hooper is a handsome Toy Australian Shepherd. Currently he is presenting as incredibly bashful and unsure. As he gets more confident, we anticipate he will be much more energetic and more in need of an active partner. Hooper is very intelligent. A fenced yard is needed or he needs to be on a leash at all times because Australian Shepherds are known to go on walkabouts AKA being escape artists. He came to his foster home without any house training and did not have any indoor accidents after the fifth day except even he is in a kennel for now than 5 hours (see below). He is still very skittish and wary (which is not uncommon for a breeder dog). He will need a home that will understand that as much as he wants to be a lap dog, and he desperately wants to be given affection and give you affection, it's going to take a little bit more time with him. He loves treats. His favorite is Yummy Combs which is also terrific for his teeth. He does go in a kennel but he does not like being in the kennel. He would do best with a family that would not kennel him all day. He doesn't bark until he's been in the kennel for 4-5 hours, and he will have accidents after 5 hours. We think it's because he spent most of his life in a kennel, and he may not realize you're coming back. So if you are going to kennel him, please follow kennel training guidelines. He sleeps in the human bed and loves to just observe life around him. He can hold his bladder for 12 hours if you're home with him. Hooper prefers the cats in the house.
