KIRBY

Hi! My Name Is KIRBY

We're happy to tell you that KIRBY has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.

Kirby is a love-bug who just needs to be spoiled during his golden years. He loves to be held and will literally melt in your arms. Even though he was abandoned by his previous owner, he is the most trusting dog and will quickly form a bond with his future mom and dad. Since he is blind he is prone to experiencing anxiety when faced with learning a new environment. However, he is quick to explore and would thrive in a loving home. He says: “Hi! I’m Kirby and I am patiently awaiting my third act in life. My previous owner said I was too old, but I still have a lot of spunk left in me. I love to cuddle and follow the humans around whenever I can. I would love to be cuddled all day long. Even though the vet says I’m blind I can get around really well once I get to know my environment. I like to use my nose to sniff around and get the lay of the land. It especially helps if the humans leave a light on for me so I have a point of reference. I really don’t like to be kenneled, but I can sleep all night on my bed and I don’t have any accidents. I am fully potty trained and will bark when I need to go out. I don’t need a whole lot of exercise, but I like to have a fenced yard to sniff around in. I get along really well with all dogs, but I have to be careful around dogs that might get too rough with me since I’m such a little man.” Will you be Kirby’s “furever” snuggle buddy?

Kirby is a Rat Terrier/mix, weighs 13 lbs, and was born approximately 11-28-07. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, given flea/tick preventative, dewormed. Kirby has tested positive for heartworm disease. Due to his age, he is not a candidate for traditional immiticide treatment. He rather will need to remain on monthly heartworm preventative for life, as is recommended for ALL dogs. Kirby was also found to have glaucoma so needs to remain monitored for eye pressure and on daily eye drops to control the glaucoma.
