**MEDICAL HOLD - Available for adoption approximately 8-15-21** Kona has been a joy for her foster family even with her frustration with not being able to play with the other dogs while going through heartworm treatment. She kennels easily, and follows instructions as soon as she understands what's wanted. She loves every person she's met so far. The cat has been less than polite to her and her response to his rude gestures is indifference, although she thinks it's fun to chase him. Kona doesn't like being separated from the rest of the pack (she pretty much stays in the kitchen) but seems content to have someone in the room with her. She usually lays on the floor with a bone or a plush toy. She does ok on a leash, she pulls but not too hard, its more like testing the boundaries. She's a charmer and will be ready to find a home soon! Kona came from rural southern Oklahoma where she was found as a stray and never reclaimed. The only way she would make it out of the shelter alive was to be rescued as they do not have any volunteer or adoption programs in their rural animal control facility. Dolly's Legacy came to her rescue and saved her life. Kona is a female Chesapeake Bay Retriever/mix, weighs 47 lbs and was born approximately 4-12-20. She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, given flea/tick preventative, dewormed. Kona had life-saving treatment for heartworm disease. She will need to remain on heartworm preventative for life, as is recommended for ALL dogs, and retested in 6 months to ensure she is heartworm free. Adoption fee is $400 to help offset the many expenses we have for vetting costs. We rely strictly on adoption fees and donations to continue to save the lives of orphaned & abandoned pets; 100% goes towards their care. If interested in adopting one of our available dogs or puppies, you must first complete an online adoption application at https://dollyslegacyanimalrescue.org/adopt/ You will be contacted by our adoption coordinator via email after your application has been reviewed & approved to schedule an appointment. Our website is updated daily, pets that are listed are still available.
