PATSY

Hi! My Name Is PATSY

We're happy to tell you that PATSY has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.
Patsy landed in a rural Kansas shelter when her owner, the only home she'd ever known, decided to move and not take her along. Patsy was devastated and shut down in the shelter. Her poor little heart was broken. There was little hope she would ever make it out of the shelter. We saw her pleading eyes and she spoke to us, and we knew we needed to save her. She arrived at her foster home and blossomed far more quickly than we expected. She lit up when she was introduced to their dogs and was so happy to romp & play with a new friend. We don’t think there is a mean bone in her body, she is just very nervous & anxious when exposed to new people & places. We have not heard her bark yet. Has never showed any ounce of aggressive or reactivity while with foster parents - not even when meeting a more dominant dog. Patsy is very submissive and just wants to please. Patsy is also very loyal. She needs to learn some tricks like “place” etc…so she has an activity for her brain. She sleeps at her fosters' feet while watching tv (very calmly), just gets nervous when she’s not sure what you will do next. At night she sleeps peacefully in a dog bed at the food of the human bed. We just want a calm, reassuring home for our Patsy that will allow her to blossom & be the happy dog she was meant to be.

Requirements to adopt Patsy:
*Experienced owner: Patsy is prone to anxiety and wants to be at your side wherever you go.
*Adopter must be willing to leash train in a safe space that is secure, not on a street or sidewalk until she feels comfortable (foster parents have started this). She needs to learn that the leash is a positive thing
*Must have home with fenced in yard. Since she starting off afraid of the leash she could be a flight risk. No apartment, no exception.
*Another dog in the home as a companion, they bring out the joy in her. She loves to romp with other playful dogs!
*Positive reinforcement only; absolutely no punishment-based training, it would break her spirit to be shocked or punished, including "dominance-based" training. Nothing but positivity for this girl.

Patsy is a female Cattle Dog/mix who weighs 43 lbs and was born approximately 5-27-21 She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, given flea/tick preventative, dewormed, tested negative for heartworm disease and started on heartworm preventative.  Adoption fee is $450 to help offset the many expenses we have for vetting costs.
