RUSTY

UPDATE: Rusty has gained weight and will be neutered and ready for adoption soon. This sweet boy has already received multiple applications to adopt. We will pick his new family from these applicants so we are no longer accepting new adoption applications for Rusty.  Rusty is a sad little boy who is broken-hearted to have lost his family. He was so distraught that he quit eating & lost 2.5 lbs in a week's time, when he only started out at 10 lbs to begin with. He is spending his time curled up sleeping while mourning the loss of the life he knew. We have promised him that we will find him the perfect home where he will be a cherished member of the family and never again be made to start all over. Rusty is tiny & will need an experienced home, preferably with current or previous Dachshunds, no children as he could easily be injured, and a fenced yard to keep him safe. Rusty loves to sleep under the covers where he can stay cozy warm, loves his cow toy, and exploring the outdoors when it is warm weather. He has a wonderful temperament but is just so very sad. We are working on fattening him up & getting his broken heart to heal before he will be ready for adoption, but we are taking applications on him. Rusty is a purebred Miniature Dachshund, weighs 7.5 lbs (but gaining soon hopefully) and was born approximately 2-17-18. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, given flea/tick preventative, dewormed, tested negative for heartworm disease & given a Proheart injection for 6 months of heartworm preventative. Adoption fee is $450 to help offset the many expenses we have for vetting costs. We rely strictly on adoption fees and donations to continue to save the lives of orphaned & abandoned pets; 100% goes towards their care.
