SHORTY

Hi! My Name Is SHORTY

We're happy to tell you that SHORTY has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.
Shorty was found by Wichita police after responding to a call. She had been hit by a car and was unable to ambulate with her back legs. She was transferred to Veterinary Health Center at Kansas State University and was under the care of the Orthopedic Team. She had multiple fractures as you can see in her x-rays. Her injuries were severe. On 7-25-22, Shorty underwent surgery to repair the most serious fractures in her pelvis and femur. It required realignment using bone plates due to the severity of the injuries. So shorty has kind of had a rough few weeks lately. She loves to follow her new foster mom all over the place, she says she is like her shadow. Shorty’s favorite place to sleep is on her fosters lap in the evening! She does really well her kennel and will sleep all night by herself like a big girl. She’s still learning to potty outside but is catching on really quick. She has learned to go on a potty pad so one is left down just in case She forget to tell them she has to go! Shorty would love a home with friends as she has loved everyone she meets.  She even likes those weird purring things too! If you would like to meet Shorty please fill out an application. She would love to meet you.

Shorty needs us all in her corner, she has a very long road ahead of her. As long as there are no complications from surgery, her recovery will take 4-6 weeks.
