SIDEKICK

Hey there, everyone! I’m Sidekick, and I would love to be your partner in crime. I’m an energetic, athletic pooch who still has puppy energy, and loves to burn it with fetch, chase, or walking outside. Sometimes I choose to run rather than walk, but my leash manners are improving. I’ve just started in basic obedience and learning to walk alongside a bike. I’m what people consider a “velcro” dog, and like staying right beside my people. Which is why I may do best with either someone who stays at home most of the day, or with a canine companion who’ll keep be company when the humans are gone. I want to do things with my family, otherwise I’ll get bored. I’m pretty quiet as well. I rarely bark, only when I’m over excited. Other times, I make a crooning sound with my throat. I love love love toys! And oh my goodness, especially squeaky balls! Got a few of those, and you’re guaranteed a half hour of nonstop playtime and fun. I have no sense of personal space. Prepare for that, as I will most likely plop my entire body on your chest while you’re on the couch or bed, and shove my head into your armpit caring for nothing in the world. I like everyone once introduced, but may be wary of strangers, especially big men. Just take things slow, and our bond for sure will grow. I enjoy kids, but because of my high energy, older ones will be the safer bet. Since I’m still technically a puppy, I sometimes get a bit mouthy during play. Nothing too serious, it’s just that I like to hold your hand in my mouth when we wrestle. But my foster family is working on stopping this behavior. I’m also a high jumper, and will jump on you when I’m excited over playtime. A fenced in yard with room to run is ideal. I have no major concerns behavior wise, it’s just because of my energy and active nature that requires someone dog savvy to satisfy my daily needs. I’m still a sweet, loving dog who, if provided these basic things, will be an awesome companion for a family. Sidekick is a Spaniel mix, weighs 40 lbs and was born approximately 3-15-20. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, given flea/tick preventive, dewormed, tested negative for heartworm disease & given a Proheart injection for 6 months of heartworm prevention. Adoption fee is $400 to help offset the many expenses we have for vetting costs. We rely strictly on adoption fees and donations to continue to save the lives of orphaned & abandoned pets; 100% goes towards their care.
