STEVIE

Hi! My Name Is STEVIE

We're happy to tell you that STEVIE has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.

Stevie is a gem of a dog with a zest for life! He is looking for a home where he will get lots of activity like hikes, walks/runs, playing fetch, etc. A couch potato lounge life is not for him. He needs a home where he can burn off energy as it is in his DNA to keep busy. He likes to have a job or puzzles like a treat mat. Agility or fly ball would be great for him. Stevie has two foster fursiblings and gets along with them great, and does well with other dogs he has been introduced to. He met a few cats and was fine with them as well. He has some funny quirks. He likes to bury things but he doesn't hide them very well. He also takes shoes but doesn't chew them up. He has been fully housetrained while in his foster home. Stevie LOVES food. When being hand fed, feed him open palm as he's excited to get that treat! He likes to counter surf, so food you don't want him to sneak away with should be put away. He is nervous around new people but once he knows he's safe, he'll be your shadow dog.  Stevie would do best in an adult-only home, with no children or an older couple..  He would love a big yard to reign over and dig in. He loves it when you are out with him. He doesn't bark except to guard the yard when on squirrel patrol. Stevie has completed heartworm treatment and is recovering wonderfully.  He has a beautiful soft coat.  If you have the patience to have him get to know you, you'll have a great friend.

Requirements to adopt Stevie, in addition to the information above:

*Exceptional veterinary reference with responsible pet ownership history

*Needs an active owner, this boy has lots of energy!

*Home with a fenced yard: He loves being outside therefore a fenced yard is required; he cannot live in an apartment

*Stevie  is a herding breed, thus it is in his nature to want to 'herd' moving creatures the direction he wants them to go, little kids included. If you are parents of young children and are not prepared for 'herd nipping', we ask that you please consider another breed of dog. Check our list of available dogs who are not herding breeds who are better suited for families with children.

Stevie is an Australian Shepherd boy who weighs 46 lbs and was born approximately 9-15-17. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, given flea/tick preventative, dewormed. He was provided life-saving heartworm treatment and will need to remain on monthly heartworm preventative and retested in 6 months to ensure he is heartworm free. Adoption fee is $350 to help offset the many expenses we have for vetting costs. We rely strictly on adoption fees and donations to continue to save the lives of orphaned & abandoned pets; 100% goes towards their care.
