THEODORE

Hi! My Name Is THEODORE

We're happy to tell you that THEODORE has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.

Theodore is such a dream of a dog. He always wants to be with you wherever you go. He was sadly an unclaimed stray that no one ever came forward to pick him up. He desperately wants to love and be loved, but doesn't know how to ask for it. He will sit right next to you just staring into your soul asking for your attention. He will at times still flinch a bit when reaching out to touch him. Can’t imagine what his previous life was like for him to get scared so easily when all your trying to do is pet him. He would do best in a home with another dog. He needs another dog to show him how to "dog" and how to trust the humans around him. The cats in his foster home absolutely adore him. He doesn’t mind their company as well. He doesn’t like sleeping in the kennel and has had many accidents during the night in there. Once he was moved into the human bed to sleep, there have been no overnight accidents. He is still learning how to let people know he needs to go outside. He no longer has to wear diapers, and instead of several messes/day, there might be one every 2-3 days. He does well on a leash (with a harness), and does not like being too far from his humans. He is a real delight to have around and deserves the best life, especially if you're looking for a dog who wants to make you his whole world.

Requirements to adopt Theodore:

*Needs experienced owner who will be committed to keeping him groomed and monitor for dry eye

Theodore is a tiny ShihTzu boy who weighs 8 lbs and was born approximately 11-1-14. He was found as a stray and never reclaimed. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, given flea/tick preventive, dewormed, tested negative for heartworm disease & started on preventive. At the time of his neuter, they removed a testicular mass deemed malignant, although not confirmed with pathology; needs monitored at regular vet exams. Adoption fee is $450 to help offset the many expenses we have for vetting costs. We rely strictly on adoption fees and donations to continue to save the lives of orphaned & abandoned pets; 100% goes towards their care. If interested in adopting one of our available dogs or puppies, please complete an online adoption application at https://dollyslegacyanimalrescue.org/adopt/ You will be contacted by our adoption coordinator via email after your application has been reviewed & approved to schedule an appointment.
