Tony loves exploring and plays great with other dogs. His happy place is outside making new discoveries, especially in water. He's very smart and will pick up training and commands quickly. He doesn't jump on people (or even on the furniture) but he does like being with the family even if he's snoozing. He loves belly rubs and is food motivated which makes training easier. He knows basic command (sit) and is learning more (stay). Tony has great manners and would love someone to take him on lots of adventures. He loves his daily walks and does great on leash. He loves wandering around outside finding all the good smells but otherwise he is a calm and relaxed dog. He lights up when he is in the presence of children & would do great in a home with a little buddy or two. He would do fine with or without another dog in the home. Cats & chickens are too tempting to chase, so a home without feathered or felines would be best. He needs a home with a fenced yard so he can frolick & romp freely. He cannot live in an apartment. Tony is such an easy going boy that he would make the perfect fit for almost any kind of family! This boy is loads of fun & can't wait to see what adventures are awaiting him!
Tony came from a crowded city shelter in Texas where he was in grave danger of being euthanized due to limited space at the shelter & his time was up. Dolly's Legacy came to his rescue and saved his life. Tony the Tiger is a male Border Collie/Basset Hound mix, weighs 70 lbs and was born approximately 7-19-18 . He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, given flea/tick preventative, dewormed. Tony completed life-saving treatment for heartworm disease. He will need to remain on heartworm preventative for life, as is recommended for ALL dogs, and retested in 6 months to ensure he is heartworm free. Adoption fee $250 to help offset the many expenses we have for vetting costs. We rely strictly on adoption fees and donations to continue to save the lives of orphaned & abandoned pets; 100% goes towards their care.
