You could not find two sweeter dogs if you tried. Zoë follows her foster mom as if she's afraid of being abandoned, but tends to run when you go to pet her, then you scoop her up and give her kisses and she kisses you like you're made of peanut butter. Zoë is very reliant on Toby for confidence. They must be adopted together as they do not like being separated. They were brought to a vet to be euthanized because of their age. The clinic intervened and convinced the owners to surrender them and Dolly's Legacy was contacted to bring them into rescue. They had been neglected for quite some time. Zoe's teeth were in terrible shape, and Toby's fur was matted and full of waste, and underneath it all he had a ruptured and infected anal gland. That has all been addressed and they are both on the mend and feeling so much better. Zoe's fur is so much softer than it's looks. She does not like harnesses or collars, so a good fenced yard is required. Zoë (ZoZo, Zotato, Zoë Zo, Zoëlle, Miss Piggy, etc.) pretends she doesn't know her name until there are treats, then suddenly she has your full attention. Zoë does not know how to sleep on a human bed, but finds comfort in a kennel if Toby is with her. She snores, snorks, and snuffles like a piggy, her foster cat friends look at her like she's some mythical creature, and we agree she is certainly one of a kind!
Requirements to adopt Toby & Zoe:
*Must adopt them as a bonded pair
*Must own a home with a fenced yard
*Must have exceptional veterinary reference
*Must have unlimited ability to love & spoil them
Toby is a male Pekingese who was born approximately 9-1-12. Zoe is a female Pug who was born approximately 9-1-08. They are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, given flea/tick preventative, dewormed, tested negative for heartworm disease & given heartworm prevention. Toby had an anal mass removed as well as a dental. Zoe also had a dental. Adoption fee is $450 as a pair to help offset the many expenses we have for vetting costs. We rely strictly on adoption fees and donations to continue to save the lives of orphaned & abandoned pets; 100% goes towards their care.
