ERKEL

Hi! My Name Is ERKEL

We're happy to tell you that ERKEL has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.

I am a wee old man. Like all Chihuahuas, I am sure that I am the biggest dog in the room even though I weigh a whole 5 pounds and that I can take on a grizzly bear even though I have no teeth. My full name is "General Hercule Aloysius Snuggleton IV", but "ERKLE" is the American pronunciation. I'm too distinguished for anything but a full, awe-inspiring name that indicates my importance. I am the biggest snuggle bug and would really love it if you would just carry me around in a sling all day. And if you work on a computer I would like to sit in your sling while you do that please. I like to sit on your lap while you are watching TV. My favorite thing in the whole wide world are heated blankets and cuddles. I was found as a stray in Lincoln, Nebraska. We don't know my history of how I ended up that way, but  was taken to the local shelter, and then ended up with my sweet Dolly's Legacy foster mama (who I gaze up at with adoring stares). I am ready, willing, and able to protect you from all the hidden monsters (like the doorbell monster or the deliveryman beastie or the phone ghost) you don't know where out there yet, but I do. I am fiercely loyal once I decide you are worth it. And it doesn't take me long to realize who is good people and who is not. My foster mother said that I came in the smallest dog in the house and within a day had already let everyone know who was the king. (Note from foster mom: they are humoring him.) Since I am a super tiny old man, I wouldn't enjoy kids who might accidentally drop me or fall on me. I'd rather prefer a quiet retirement home with other retirees. You'll have to always be with me when I'm outside because those hawks hovering in the sky are big and could carry me away pretty quickly. I'm hopeful my perfect person or people are out there and will take me home and make me their tiny little king of the castle.

Erkel is a male Chihuahua who weighs 5 lbs and was born approximately 1-1-11. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, given flea/tick preventative, dewormed, tested negative for heartworm disease & started on preventative. He is developing age-related cataracts and like many small breeds, has a collapsing trachea. Neither requires any medical intervention at this time, just regular monitoring to make sure it doesn't progress. Adoption fee is $250 to help offset the many expenses we have for vetting costs. We rely strictly on adoption fees and donations to continue to save the lives of orphaned & abandoned pets; 100% goes towards their care. If interested in adopting one of our available dogs or puppies, you must first complete an online adoption application at https://dollyslegacyanimalrescue.org/adopt/ You will be contacted by our adoption coordinator via email after your application has been reviewed & approved to schedule an appointment.
