DEXTER

Dexter is an energetic, silly fella looking for an active human or family to spend his days with! He enjoys walks, playing, snuggles, bones, treats, and watching out the window. He makes his foster mom laugh every day with his silly antics! Dexter came into rescue with a broken leg that was full of infection. If it weren't for Dolly's and their vet, it may have been amputated. Thankfully, he got the care he needed and is now happy, healed, and ready for his furever home! And boy does he deserve it! Dexter does great on a leash, he would make an excellent running buddy! He loves toys-balls, squeakers, bones-all of them! Because he does have lots of energy, it's important that he has lots of toys and activity to keep him out of mischief.  Dexter is highly food motivated making him an excellent learner, he already knows sit and lay down. He is house and kennel-trained, so that's one less thing on the to-do list! He prefers to be near his humans though instead and can be quite the little shadow. Loading the dishwasher?, he'll rinse the dishes for you. Watering plants?, he'll check the water temp. Folding laundry?, he'll make sure you do it right. He also enjoys car rides and will happily go wherever his humans go. Dexter deserves a fenced-in yard so he can run and sniff and play to his hearts delight. He would love to have another pup or older children(he'd be too much for littles) to play with, but it's not required. So if you're looking for a watchdog, a co-pilot, and a snuggle buddy, Dexter is the guy for you!

Dexter was rescued from a rural southern Kansas shelter who reached out for help to save this sweet boy.  He is a male Border Collie/mix weighing 38 lbs and was born approximately 4-1-20. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, given flea/tick preventive, dewormed, tested negative for HW disease & started on heartworm preventive. Adoption fee is $350 to help offset the many expenses we have for vetting costs. We rely strictly on adoption fees and donations to continue to save the lives of orphaned & abandoned pets; 100% goes towards their care.
